We’re only three days away from Christmas and we’ve got tons to do! So the Ever Lovely elves are officially taking a short vacation from blogging in celebration of the most festive of occasions. We’ll be back next week (and ok – maybe we’ll post a little something on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day). Cheers!

Happy Holidays!

     Picking the Proposal Outfit

Recently, we introduced Mary, one of our new editorial team members. You’ll meet (and see!) her soon, but in the meantime, enjoy her picks for dressing for the perfect proposal…that is, if you think one is coming!

If you have even the slightest inkling that you might be receiving a proposal, then  you need  to make sure you’ll be ready for your close-up!  Has your special someone mentioned trip to the coast where you first met, or perhaps dinner to that beautiful, intimate restaurant that you have always been wanting to try? Then this just might be the time to splurge on that fabulous outfit…

Consider the location (if you think you know it!) and  let that be your guide to selecting the clothing that you need to wear and possibly pack to have the perfect picture to mark this wonderful occasion.

Is it a romantic restaurant, a casual outing in the park, or perhaps the beach?  All of these offer you the chance to show off your great taste in clothing.

Try throwing your favorite blazer over this dress if your destination gets cool at night!

Rose Patch Dress from TopShop

Don’t forget to get a manicure and keep your accessories simple and to a minimum so you can show off your new bling! Above all, remember that it is most important to look like yourself  – your best self - and you can’t go wrong.

     Planning a Holiday Proposal

Happy Monday lovelies!  As we head into this holiday week, we’re starting with some great advice on proposal planning from Claire.  Enjoy!

The holidays are often a wonderful time for a proposal. For those of you ready to
pop the big question, and in need of some inspiration or ideas to get you
started on planning the special moment, we’ve got some tips for you.

The proposal should be one that both reflects/defines your relationship and the
future you will share together, as a married couple. It is important to keep in mind, that your fiancé will be sharing this moment with all your friends, family, and even children, and that every detail should be thoughtful and special.

For those of you who feel like you need some extra help –consider consulting a professional proposal planner (yes they exist) or a wedding planner!

Some important things to consider:

  • Does your partner like a lot of attention and would he/she be excited about you proposing in public, or be more comfortable with a more intimate event?
  • Do you have a friend who is able to photograph the proposal, or is it perhaps worth hiring a professional photographer?
  • Is your significant other traditional or does he/she appreciate out-of-the-box spontaneity?
  • Should you involve friends and/or family in the proposal planning and/or execution? Or go it alone?

The list of questions is seamingly endless! Here are some good resources to get you started:
